10K Monday!

Well I did it. I ran the Sun Run...first 10k in the bag. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be. I'm feeling a little sore today, but nothing yoga can't handle. What a great feeling it was to cross that finish line and know that I just RAN 10k!! The Run Lola Run soundtrack got me through the last 2k that's for sure. But I did it!!! One more 10k in two weeks! Then a 5k, my fundraiser run.

I tweeted some photos during the run! Check my twitter for them! Be sure to follow my Twitter for updates during the TC10k in two weeks, and behind the scenes photos and updates from the Canucks games.

On that note

Being able to run 10k! • Playoff sweeps (fingers crossed) • everyone getting together to watch playoff hockey • new crochet projects • shopping for baby gifts! • the fact that spring is FINALLY here!! • vests • the gifts my employers love to give us :D • having jobs I love to be at, not because I have to make money • long dog walks • grandparents • having so many people cheer me on for my run • Imaq (Farewell!) • Tourism Passport season!!!! • Student free bus and Skytrain season • New and exciting ideas in development

I just had a muffin...I didn't WANT it..but I was just SO hungry...I need to restock my breakfast foods at work. I'll head to the gym today and work it off...no rest for me! Another 10K in two weeks! This one will be in Victoria and I have a friend doing it too...probably not WITH me though..I'm a slow runner, but this doesn't bother me. I ran the whole 10k (10minutes of running, 1 minute of walking) which is a lot more than I can say for most of the people I saw on the route. They were very in the way :(

I'm very excited to head home and get some rest. It's beautiful outside already so I'll have to take Daisy on a loooooong walk.

What are you going to do with this nice weather?

Inside looking in

Playoffs!!!

It's the most wonderful time of the yeeeeear!
The whole season is just rehearsal for the awesomeness that IS playoff hockey. The game is completely different, SOOooo much better. It's fast paced, hard hitting..every game is do or die. It's really exciting to be in a city that has basically all signs pointing to yes to win it this year.

What is NOT so fun is not really being a fan of the team....Ok I use that somewhat incorrectly.
I'm all for the Canucks. I don't recall in my life having anything bad to say about them. But the fact is I'm a Sens fan. Have been for a while now. Puts me in a tad of an awkward position sometimes. Not this year since the Sens signed off in November, but it leaves me conflicted.

I completely hope the Canucks can go all the way. For SURE! But it's sad to watch all the fans running around town cheering and having fun and looking at them and half wishing I could too.

It's a strange feeling.

I know I won't become a Canucks fan (by definition) I will definitely always want them to do well and be happy when things go great. But I have my team, and I'm standing by them....

What's WORSER...(yes worser) is that Montreal is in the playoffs...I grew up a Habs fan...

So my tale of hockey woe grows longer.

George gets me....

So I grew up a Habs fan....you can't just let something like that go...There will always be an allegiance within me...When they play the Sens it's STILL a conflict for me. I have three Habs jerseys including the first one I got in 1994. I used to have a lot more Habs things but it's departed from me as time went on. I have an assortment of t-shirts still...a flag or two, but most of it I've passed on to fans who would get more use out of it.

As for the Canucks, I have a sweater and hat I got as a gift, and a t-shirt I bought before I moved here when I attended a game and wanted a souvenir. However, I just wouldn't feel right running around town with them on. I think it would be unfair to the real fans. I don't consider myself a bandwagoner, I've been here all year! I'm staying away from the wagon altogether. I really want the true fans to enjoy themselves. I know I'd be kind of phoney enjoying...just running around cheering for the sake of not been able to do that since 2007.

Right after the win...
that was a fun day

I've been to the finals...I know how amazing it can be

Truthfully, the Canucks are probably the most fan-centric organization I've ever seen. They are up and down far superior to the Senators. They have so many different ways to interact and encourage fans. The twitter feed alone is full of contests and interactions and other neat things. Blogs, videos, and photos are just a small segment of the extensive website for the Canucks, and their discussion community rivals NO one else's. The Senators discussion board...doesn't have any discussing. Sometimes I'm ashamed of the Senators orgaization for just how poor they are at doing anything. Especially getting a new video board. If they can't handle getting that, there is no way they will be able to master the art of tweetups...

So I'm left with what exactly? Two teams I think highly of are in the first round. Which ever one advances all the way it will still be a conflicting experience. The Sens aren't even IN the playoffs so that makes it different. If they were in there would be no questions.

I'm in the upper left corner.
I wear the shirt I got to work
since I would feel odd wearing it anywhere else.

I look conflicted about something...

And this is just week 1.....

Who are you cheering for?

Monday was easy

This Monday was a piece of cake. Hopefully it sets the tone for the week!

We start obedience class this week! Very exciting. Daisy is getting pretty obedient...but she still has some problem areas so hopefully we can learn how to correct them.

I ran 6.2k yesterday! In the rain!! I can't believe I did it! I'm going to try to hit 8k sometime this week. Then I'll know I can do 10k. But I also need to not push too hard this week. Granted I haven't been training to earn a taper...but I don't want to run 8k and pull something or be sore for Sunday..how awful would that be!

Either way, I'm a little more confident I can do this run...especially since I wasn't ready to die after the 6.2...I probably could have kept going but I drew the line at being completely soaking wet ;)

I am at 40% of my goal for my fundraising run for the Aquarium! Join in the fun!!

FAVES

My Monday bus driver (always so nice!) • being able to run farther than I thought • when Daisy burrows under the covers when I nap • romantic weekend getaways • free hotel rooms! • visiting with friends • shopping for Daisy (I LOVE buying her things!) • My new digital picture frame • My hair getting longer • The Dog Whisperer • My Sports Tracker app • 6 months of being married! • David making such awesome decisions as of late • champagne

Looking forward to the playoffs getting started! While my team kicked the bucket months ago, it's going to be sooo much fun working for the home team this year! Here's to a long run!!!

Will you be watching the playoffs?

Lacking Motivation

Bler.

I have gained weight lately. I have been so lazy and so unmotivated to exercise, which doesn't help of course. I partly blame the weather. It's been so awful and cold and rainy lately. Who wants to go outside, even if to the gym.... Being all warm and cozy is so much nicer than opening the door. However, this has really hurt me. I have a 10k to run in ONE week and my lazy butt didn't run all March and now here I am. Screwed. I ran 4k last week..that's it. How can I run a 10k!?

I'm really disappointed with myself. I need to find a way to get motivated to get out there and work out (other than my disappointment with how I look)

How do you find motivation?

Monday isn't pro me

Sometimes I feel like Monday is working against me.

I try to have a good outlook for the beginning of the week..but it just seems like Monday WANTS to be hated. It should be nicer to me.

I try....

I'm participating in the 2011 Scotiabank Group Charity Challenge at the Scotiabank Vancouver Half Marathon & 5k. I'm fundraising for the Vancouver Aquarium. If you didn't already know what an amazing place it is, feel free to ask me why! I truly love it there and want to give back!

You can help support me by making a secure online donation using your credit card!! Please sponsor me on another one of my charity runs. You can do so here!!

On that note:

(this week!) • Daisy starting to calm down and listen • The Dog Whisperer (sorry...I'm hooked) • Having a sister who works at a vet • knitting little baby sized gifts • seeing little glimpses of summer • Kitsilano • tacos • naps • fundraising • water bottles • juice boxes

Monday Monday Gotta get down on Monday!

Really, Monday should have a song other than I Don't Like Mondays. It needs more lovin'. At least it has theme!

Fondue • Gel mousepads • Fun board games • Lazy sundays • ceramic painting • skype! • Nice bus drivers • yogurt and granola • Francine Rivers • cuddling with Daisy • Nachos • road trips • decorating

I've decided this spring/summer I'm going to get my SCUBA certification. It's a big regret I have...I wanted to get it when I was a kid when my dad was into SCUBAing...but it just never happened. But I have a big stock with Starbucks I'm ready to cash and that will cover my course. Just gotta do it! I'm excited. At the aquarium I'm surrounded by divers, so I'll never be short a buddy!!

NEWS!!

A few weeks ago I mentioned that sharing big secrets was fun and to stay tuned.

Did you stay tuned?

Because here comes the news!

In September, David and I are going to be......

An aunt and uncle!!

HA fooled you.

Yes! My little sister is pregnant!! If you recall, she got married last May! They are sooo excited and so are we. It's crazy to think about though. MY little sister is having a BABY. BAH! Bizarre.

Isn't that photo just the cutest!! It's apparently around 7 cm. TIINNNY!

Just so you aren't wondering, I am NOT having a baby anytime soon. At all...I have zero maternal want right now. We're too busy and happy for a baby. yuk. We like our dog :D. I shall keep posted as little Mosier grows!
