The Paralympics have started!! Hurray!!
All the commercials I hated during the Olympics are back on tv, but I'm ok with it because now I'm nostalgic about them and won't ever see them again after this.
I'm really excited for the Paralympics. I've never watched them before, but I'm still geared up from the Olympics, and seeing all these athletes, just WOW....Overcoming serious odds, a lot of them injured and amputated....some told they would never walk again....not only did they walk....they skiied! (or whatever event they are in) It's just AMAZING. I seriously question if I would have the motivation or belief in myself to get out of bed....let alone compete in international sporting events.....it's just amazing. I truly believe they are the superior athletes. I wish I had managed to get some tickets to some Canada events :(
Which brings me to my anger. How DARE HBC not sell Paralympic items...specifically the Paralympic mittens. The Olympic mittens were HUGE. 3.5 MILLION of those mittens were sold. $4 from each pair went to Canadian athletes. Why on EARTH are we not doing the same for Paralympic athletes. Are they less worthy of our fundraising and support? I guarantee that those mittens would have sold amazingly. It's angering and just downright RUDE.
CTV was not going to be broadcasting the opening ceremonies live this evening. Instead packaging them to be aired tomorrow followed by Canada's first sledge hockey game. Good cross promotion, but still un cool at the same time.
HOWEVER, us lucky few in BC were treated to the live broadcast after CTV changed their minds. I'm very happy about this. I only got to watch about half before I had to get back to work. But YAAAAAY Paralympics.
I saw the torch run by my house today! I didn't expect it, but was super glad I got to see it.
