Got a call from my mom last night. My Grandfather died of a heart attack....:(
It's weird, both times my dad has come to visit one of my grandfathers died....now I have none...
There is supposed to be a memorial service sometime in March....so I might be back in Ontario sooner than we thought

My dad was at the opening ceremonies last night, and since I went to the rehearsal I took his photos and claimed them as my own for my memories! So I'll have some of those, along with all of Vancouver soon

The Olympics are HERE. So sit down, SHUT UP, and cheer!

I am so sick of people who are whining about the Olympics, or hate the Olympics or blah blah blah wha wha wha....it took money away from social programs, tear tear. The bill will be huge, whine whine
NEWSFLASH PEOPLE
You want to know how much money would have got to the DTES if we didn't host the Olympics?
ZERO
Nothing. That money would have gone somewhere else less sketchy. Vancouver (city officials) don't care about those people. They would have spent the money shuffling that area further down Hastings.
I'm not saying this is my opinion, it's fact. I would like nothing more to know how I can help those people not be homeless, dirty, smelly, scary and drug addicted. But since I've had little to no advice on how to do that, I will resume my regularly scheduled programming. Which happens to be the Olympics on CTV.
Having gone to the opening ceremonies rehearsals, I can say that the performance made me so freaking proud to be a Canadian, and so happy that the OLYMPICS are here in my city, and our athletes are going to show the world how good we are.
Just because you were picked last for baseball teams all the time as a kid doesn't mean that interfering with torch bearers is cool. That has to be one of the most exciting days EVER for some people. And because you 'protest' you get away with it? sorry no. into lockup with you. throw away the key for all I care.
You want to protest the Olympics coming here, fine. But leave it back in 2003 when it MATTERED. They are HERE now. Protesting it is only making your country look foolish. So save your energy to protest something useful, sit down, shut up, and cheer for the athletes that have worked their ASSES off to be here today.
Don't spoil it for the rest of us just because you can't ski, or don't understand hockey, or hate curling, or just plain SUCK at sports.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to watch Walter Gretzky carry the torch.
And to all those athletes

A day to work
Today I thought I would treat you to my voyage to work. I was running late...AGAIN....I just can't see to get there on time, but still here goes!
The day starts with a peek at the flowers. Almost ready to go! The grass is also green 365 days a year here....YAAAY "winter"
I make my way to down Granville station! ouuu
Down the scary big escalator.....I would NOT want to be down here during and earthquake
Just in time to catch the first train!!!
GM Place being torn apart for the Olympics
The locker rooms for the men's hockey...yes...OUTSIDE
You can see waaaay in the distance under the bridge they have set up booms to block entry to the bay
BC place and GM place. That big cube is Quebec's pavillion.

I didn't get any photos to the Millennium line because I had to sprint to make the train or else I would have been INSANELY late for work.
You can see the mountains are losing snow...GOOD luck VANOC!
Tall buildings. I love how they just stick out. I think this is Burnaby...or New Westminster...or Surrey...
The Sears at Brentwood Mall. I love the old Eatons sign remnants...Sad though..

good stuff
Well the good news is I got a temp job at Global BC doing graphics!!! this is awesome great news. I really like it so far! hopefully it turns from temp to perm!!! that's how these things happen!

oh happy day
I just had the most lovely day.
The scale says I've lost weight, my clothes say it too...oh and the mirror.
I had a DELICIOUS grilled peanut butter and chocolate sandwich, a great gym workout, followed by another amazing catered dinner by Aramark, and front row seats to the flames/nucks game...which was the best game I've seen in that arena all year. AND I got paid for it! (cause it's work) This was followed by being asked to work the rest of the games graphics wise AND getting my building badge....AND being told I was spoken very high about at a potential job interview...
ALSO I have asked Ashley of Goldleaf Jewelry to design my wedding jewelery and she's EXCITINGLY said yes :D!!! I'm such a HUGE fan I can't wait to see what's she's going to make :D!!!
ANNNNND developments on the wedding dress front! Two gorgeous options are mulling about in my mind and so we'll see how those go

selfishness
This world is FULL of it. People are always concerned about themselves, looking out for number one. Making decisions that are only best for themselves with absolutely no regard or care for how others might be affected
What would happen if for an instant they thought about someone else? About how their actions and decisions affect someone other than themselves. Took the time to care about other people and how their lives would be affected by their selfish acts and proceeded to make a decision that wouldn't be selfish and would be a lot more loving and caring.
That's my challenge. Go out into the world today and think about everyone else. Be considerate of the world around you and forget about yourself for ONE day. I know I can do it.
